written by Truman CapoteI don't remember whether I had seen the movie or not, but this novel have different impression from a famous movie. The movie seems it emphasized too much attractiveness of a girl named Holly.
The novel tells about a young girl who seeks a place where she belongs to.
She claims she is a traveller, on the way to some place where she feels her home.
She spends ostentatious life in NY. Even she can't find a bond with a cat she keeps. " We just met by the river one day:that's all. Independence, both of us. We never made any promises. We never."

Gardenia san, You might find this hard to believe but I have never seen the movie. I am a big Audrey Hepburn fan but this is one movie that bored me. I tried reading the book and I wasn't able to make it through the first chapter. Maybe I just wasn't meant to be a Truman Capote fan. Milton
ReplyDeleteI didn't want to read this book and to see the movie neither. But I like Capote's book "Grass harp". He was a sensitive man I think.

The theme song from the movie "Moonriver", I think summed it up, " . . . two drifters off to see the world . . ." We all need someone.

ReplyDeleteBy the way, "Moon river" is a song which was made for the movie. In the novel the song is different from the movie.
